Got to Worthing at 12ish and it was blowing full onshore and raining, so rigged 73l wave board with 5.5m and launched, only to wallow up and down getting swallowed by the 'shore break'. No wind at all and cold, so headed back to car to say some prayers. 10 minutes later tried again and got a fluke planing run, pumping like a loon. All good so stuck with it and it filled in nicely. Still the occasional lull, but nice clean waves and some joyous lip smacks. Probably around 25-30mph so fully powered.

Made the decision to try out the speed kit as the wave board was bogging down a bit once it went flat and fast. Vintage Coppello slalom board was winner, coupled with brand new Select Lightning speed fin.

The wind did ease again, but the extra volume saw me through although any hopes of a world record faded at that point. I'll be back in the next big southerly, hopefully with GPS. A little bit of hot hands earlier, but actually a pretty pleasant session temperature wise.
